Longfin bannerfish

Heniochus acuminatus

Description:

To 25 cm (10 in.). White with pair of black bands, the second ending behind the tip of the anal fin. Dark rectangle between eyes. Long snout compared to similar schooling bannerfish. The species are social fish, and found in pairs or in shoals. They are a very passive fish, and rarely territorial. Some individuals even act as cleaners, especially when young, by removing parasites from other fish.

Habitat:

Lagoons and outer reef slopes in 2-75 m. Indo Pacific.
