Lemon Lichen

Candelaria concolor

Description:

This bright yellow growth was on the trunk of a mahogany tree. It seems to be growing on top of the older light blue and whitish growths seen in last photo where a small spot of yellow is showing.

Habitat:

The trunk of a mahogany tree.

Notes:

I see this growth on all sides of the tree and on some woody bushes elsewhere in my backyard as well. Perhaps some sort of lichen?
