A butterfly from Nymphalidae family, medium sized with some 55 to 60 mm of wingspan. Wings are dark brown, with patches of white forming a line in the center of wings. Underneath, brown parts seem orange. It has a long blackish antennae with red tips. Hairy thorax.
Sunny clearing in a local forest, clearing bordering some golf-course providing plenty of sun.
Found mainly in southern Europe, and in Alps. In the south there are three generations ina year, going northward the number of generations declines.
