Comatricha nigra
Very young specimens coming up!!! They must be 1-2 mm big! Myxomycete. The plasmodium is white to transparent coloured. The sporocarps appear as individual fructifications, formed by a stem (2/3 of the total height) and a spherical head. This head is first of white colour turning reddish and later black, opening finally the capillitio. The capillitio is bonded to the columela, which goes to the sporocarp apex, and it is formed by tangled bundles of fibres. All together measures just a few milimeters.
Spotted on a rotten and fallen pine tree trunk.
