So amazing. Those expanded hind trochanters must be for jumping! I would love to see this jump! ;)

I don't think it's a mantid, and though they look like stick insects (Order Phasmida) I think this is a kind of "jumping stick" grasshopper (family Proscopidae of the Order Orthoptera) perhaps Apioscelis bulbosa

I'm thinking it may be some kind of mantid as it has a similar stance but when I asked our guide what it was he said "bug"! I ended up teaching him some of the family names!
