Abandoned-web Orb-weaver

Description:

Large spider...at least half an inch wide. Triangular body. Grey. Neat web like those that orb webs weave. Body colour like dry bark ...must be great camouflage.

Habitat:

Roadside. Web was attached to a tree.I saw it because the large body was at the centre of the web...a dark something in midair (web filaments were invisible)...well, OK I was also aware that I may find something after the torrential rain we had yesterday evening...and was looking.
