This bird was hawking on the beach at the Pacific Ocean.
It does. Oregon is a great place to study it, because we end up with some real oddballs: Bullocks oriole wintering in Astoria. Northern mockingbirds in various places(and we rarely have them). and Tufted ducks in a few places.
So KarenSaxton, does "wintering site fidelity" mean that the birds go to the same place winter after winter, just like many birds go to the same nesting sites in Spring?
Might be the same bird. Our regional birders' group has been discussing wintering site fidelity
I always saw them at the beach at Crystal Cove. Eric
This was was on Pacific Beach, just South of the pier.
Mission Beach? I saw one on the boardwalk wall last january and posted pictures!
I know, birdlady6000; I was surprised to see this guy on the beach!
