Jamrul or Love Apple

Syzygium samarangense

Description:

Medium sized tree. Large leaves. This one had bunches of white fruit...but apparently this fruit can be reddish too.

Habitat:

Community space in a residential garden.

Notes:

This fruit is just right for summer. Juicy but not sticky or sweet. When chewed the fruit reduces to a nothingness and the bland, watery juice is thirst quenching. Wikipedia says it has many names: wax apple, love apple, java apple, royal apple, bell fruit , Jamaican apple, water apple, mountain apple, cloud apple, wax jambu, etc.
