Spittle Bug/ Froghopper

Cosmoscarta bispeculairs

Description:

Brightly coloured with orange or red having large black dots over thorax and wings. The latter end with a broad black band. Restlessly keep on moving around. Length: 10mm.

Habitat:

Swampy bush around an artificial lake surrounded by forests. Altitude: 6,000ft.

Notes:

This couple and many similar pretty bugs were seen at this place called Chhaya Taal, above Hee Gaun. a small hamlet in remote West Sikkim. The local villagers are engaged in large cardamom and tea plantations, besides traditional terrace farming, mainly of corn, wheat, etc. Had camped there overnight on a family angling trip for trout.

Your welcome, I've found a couple more photos of the same Cicada on the internet but sadly I still can't find out it's name...! I won't give up trying but it might take a long time but I'll get there...!

From It's shape I would say it's a type of Cicada insect in the order Hemiptera...!
