Thinstripe Hermit Crab

Clibanarius vittatus

Habitat:

Shallow parts of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the western Atlantic Ocean. Found in the intertidal zone as well as at depths down to about 22 meters on sand or mud, in sea grass meadows, on rock jetties, in oyster beds and in other inshore habitats.

Notes:

Spotted a hand sized True Tulip seashell by shore rocks during low tide. As I turned it over a large hermit crab retreated further into it. Was placed back as found as tide was coming in after photo.
