A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Erythrina herbacea
Tall, over 4ft but leaning over, leaves are alternate, in compound leaves of 3 triangular leaflets. The flowers are done now, and now the pods are ripe. In each dark brown pod are several hard, bright red beans. These beans are DEADLY POISONOUS!
Doesn't seem to be picky, as it can be found in practically every major ecosystem in FL- except scrub.
Between Ranger Station and parking lot at Silver Springs State Park.
