Description:

Highly variable in coloration, but the reddish brown body with yellow markings is typical.

Habitat:

Found nectaring at a single blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in a vast open field of short grass with scattered sunflower, yucca, and elm trees.

Notes:

A common native paper wasp along the Front Range.
