Ophisaurus sp.
Legless lizard
There is an Eastern US species Ophisaurus ventralis
They have inflexible jaws that can’t be unlocked to swallow large prey. The food has to be smaller than its head!! They also have movable eyelids, and external ear openings.
This is an amazing find. It is not a snake but rather a legless lizard!
