Description:

All red or yellow late-season meadowhawk. Males entirely red except for black on narrow median spot on S9. Some older individuals with additional dark markings toward end of abdomen. Legs reddish-brown.

Habitat:

Well-vegetated ponds and lakes, usually permanent and usually associated with woodland and forest.

Notes:

I spotted this Autumn Meadowhawk at the neighbor's pond 1/4 mile down the road from my house. The pond is in an open field, at wood's edge.
