Stemonitis splendens

Stemonitis splendens

Description:

Large patches of hairy black beard hanging from the side of a fallen Pinus radiata and waving in the breeze.

Habitat:

Local sports reserve.

Notes:

It just goes to show... 30 days of record setting heat and dry seems contrary to the usual conditions for slime molds... and this one was sitting next to a lot of scrambled egg slime mold also very dry.
