Ligurian Leafhopper

Eupteryx decemnotata

Description:

Leafhoper about 2-3 mm long with a tan and yellow pattern that is outlined in brown. It reminds me of a big cat pattern. There is a light, appearing to be raised patch along the outside edge of the wing, mid length.

Habitat:

This hopper was on Sage in backyard. The range needs to be updated but here it is per Bug Guide: native to the Mediterranean (now rapidly spreading in Europe), adventive in NA and established in CA (Napa and Riverside Cos.)

Yes it does sound like these are nasty. I'm afraid my love for hoppers has me turn a blind eye to their bad side. I'm not sure the plants appreciate it though.

You are welcome. I was concerned about it being a serious pest to you mint family plants :)

You're correct! I received an ID from Bug Guide 30 min after yours that confirms it. Thank you!
