Yellow-headed blackbird (male)

Xanthocephalus xanthocephalus

Description:

Males are black with a yellow head and chest. There is a white wing patch that is mostly seen during flight. Black around the eye to bill.

Habitat:

I spotted several of these birds in the reeds next to the lakes. Spotted at the Ancient Lakes in eastern Washington.

Notes:

Attracted to marsh vegatation in western North America.
