Zenaida Dove

Zenaida aurita

Description:

Around 25cm in length from beak to tail feathers. Dark Brown coloration with purple spots on each side of the neck. Very curious little dove, most likely due to the fact that if frequented the camping site at Flamenco Beach and was used to human contact.

Habitat:

The mangrove trees and shores of Flamenco Beach in culebra island, though found as well in the main island of Puerto Rico.

Notes:

Appeared during 7am-9am foraging for leftovers at the campsite
