Orange Day-lily

Description:

Also known as Orange day-lily and Fulvous daylily or ditch lily. Grows in massifs, with long and narrows leaves, over 50cm long and about 2cm large, in basal rosette. Bear long stems with large orange flowers on top - six tepals, three inside ones with a long whitish line in the centers, 6 long stamens with prominent anthers and a filament like style and stigma...

Habitat:

Found on banks of river Rhône, in preserved natural reserve, growing in a shade. In general, grows undisturbed close to roads, rivers and ditches, well mixed to native vegetation. Native to Asia, it probably escaped from cultivation, in many countries considered invasive.

Notes:

This species looks so annoyingly like a real lily, Fire (sometimes also called Tiger) Lily, Lilium bulbiferum, that I made this same mistake several times... Moreover, this sighting was wrongly IDed as Fire Lily, and I corrected it 28.06.2017.
