Agama Agama Lizard

Agama agama

Description:

A decent sized lizard, with impressive display properties - various shades of blue with a bright orange head, a dorsal crest, and elongated scales near the head and tail. It has large 'biceps' for such an animal, as its territorial display behaviour involves repeated and frequent push-ups!

Habitat:

Seen several times on our journey throught southern and eastern Africa, often easiest to spot on walls or rocks near campsites. Will cross grassy patches at a run to get to other rocks or trees.

Notes:

This one was seemingly at least partially habituated to humans, inhabiting a campsite and only fleeing whenever someone got within touching distance. I am not sure exactly which subspecies this belongs to, due to a lack of pictures with which to compare.
