Tuckerman's Coral Lichen

Sphaerophorus tuckermanii

Description:

This specimen was about 8 cm in dia. Mostly white or pale branching and secondary branching. Branches are round.

Habitat:

It had been blown out of a tree recently at the Hoh Ox Bow Campground next to Hoh River. The campground is beautiful as it sits along the Hoh River and is basically the beginning of the rainforest. It had rained the day before so everything was moist and still dripping. Many old growth spruce, fir and cedar.
