Floury Baker Cicada

Aleeta curvicosta

Notes:

The common name for this cicada comes from its body, which looks as though it is dusted with flour. This specimen, about 3-5cm long (not including wings), seems to have picked up some cobwebs on its head as well. It was in our back yard a few nights ago, it kept bashing on the back screen door. (For a small insect they can sure make a loud noise!)

Floury Baker and White Drummer do look fairly similar.. however a defining characteristic is the white drums, which is far more noticeable on the male. This is a female but you can still see the white markings on the upper part of the adbomen!
