Kayaler bagan or Kayal's garden is now a bird sanctuary in the heart of Kolkata city. Although called a garden, it is not a landscaped area with only garden varieties...rather everything growing wild is preserved.Old, epiphyte laden trees rub branches with bamboo groves and wild vines trail all over . So called weeds flourish. It is also called Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary. ...a 17 acre small enclosed area. There is a small thatched hut , perhaps for the guards. This is a typical Indian hut with mud walls ...liquid mud is spread thinly over the surface and it dries to a smoothish finish. This spider blended so perfectly with the background that my camera could not " see" it...the first photo is with flash (which I usually avoid) and the second without!
