Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Parus rufescens

Description:

A sparrow type of bird, but with more solid colors: black head, back and wings, chestnut back, white tummy and cheks.

Habitat:

Suburban

Notes:

Summer of 2012 I set up a feeder and observed a variety of birds. It was only after I took gazillion of pictures and started to identify them from my birding book that I realized that this little bird is different from the traditional sparrow. They are small, sweet and curious. They are equally likely to be seen with the black-capped chickadees and various other sparrows.
