Long-billed Dowitcher

Limnodromus scolopaceus

Description:

Grayish-brown with a white underbelly. Long, narrow beak. Slightly more that a foot in height.

Habitat:

Marina and shore

Notes:

These were in a group at the Berkeley Aquatic Park near the Marina. They were very close to another set of shorebirds. Probably migrating north: http://www.audublog.org/?p=7855

Beautiful spotting! I think this actually may be Limnodromus scolopaceus, as I don't see the characteristic coloring of the beak in Limosa fedoa, though I am certainly no bird expert. I hope someone can shine some light on this.

You can put the third picture up as a separate spotting and highlight the American Avocet in the rear.

The white ones in the third photo are American Avocets, someone else can ID the brown ones for you though :)
