Freshwater Leopard Crab

Description:

Carapace is 4.5cm across. about 9cm across with legs stretched out. Dark brown carapace, colour resembling dead leaves and rocks. Lighter sandy coloured legs with darker brown spotted pattern. This one has a larger left claw.

Habitat:

lowland jungle clear streams. Found amongst rocks and leaf litter.

Notes:

Sooo excited to spot this freshwater crab in the jungle. The first time I encountered such a crab was in 2005 in the same river but was not able to take a photo of it.
