Slaty Skimmer, male

Description:

A large black skimmer with dark legs, dark stigma and dark face at maturity. Males have dark brown eyes, metallic blue-black face. Thorax and abdomen black, overlaid with dark slaty-blue pruinosity.

Habitat:

Wide variety of lakes, ponds and long pools in streams, mostly in wooded areas. Regulars at bog ponds.Sometimes in swamps

Notes:

I spotted this male at my neighbor's pond 1/4 mile down the road from my house. I saw another worn male in the same area.
