Dusky-legged Guan

penelope obscura

Description:

Large (27") and very loud bird that is easier to hear than see. A good dispersor of undigested seeds. Males & females the same.

Habitat:

Lives in higher forests or along streams. Usually moves in the trees but occasionally on the ground, eating fruit, flowers and buds.

Notes:

I saw this pair just off a road with their chick but the little one got to cover before I could shoot it. (I know, that sounds horrible!)
