Giant Wood Spider

Nephila pilipes

Description:

This spider was black with yellow stripes and almost a foot long with it's legs stretched. The web was at least 8 to 10 ft and stretched from one tree to another.

Habitat:

Forest in Athirapilly. foothills of Anamalai Mountains.

Notes:

Common sighting.

I'm thinking subspecies Nephila pilipes jalorensis, but I'm not 100%.
