Three-banded Range Grasshopper

Hadrotettix trifasciatus

Description:

Fairly large grasshopper. Note three black bands alternating with white bands, long black antennae, and bright orange hind tibiae ("shins"). Wary, flies well. Hind wings yellow with broad black band.

Habitat:

Found by the side of the road in a mostly bone-dry agricultural landscape.

Notes:

This is a fairly uncommon species.
