Horned Lizard

Phyrnosoma sp.

Description:

About 12.5cm long, 6.5 cm wide.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard

Notes:

Rescued this lizard from a friend's backyard. She was afraid her dog would get it, though she may have been more concerned about the dog. This lizard was much larger that I had anticipated. When I first tried to scoop it up it ran faster than I had anticipated it could. These lizards are also called Horned Frogs or Horny Toads. If any of you herpers out there could help me with a species it would be much appreciated.
