Globe Skimmer (male)

Description:

These beautiful dragonflies are "medium-sized to large [and a] dull orange/yellow. The [m]ale abdomen[is] brownish yellow to orange red, with black dorsal markings [...]" (The Complete Field Guide to Dragonflies of Australia, p305)

Habitat:

This lone Dragonfly was cruising amongst the rocks and grass above a small gorge with non-running water in it.

In Hong Kong, its name translates as "typhoon dragonfly" as it arrives with or shortly before the seasonal rain.[22] The Japanese name is usubaki-tombo (ウスバキトンボ) which is translated as "yellow dragonfly with delicate wings".
