Daddy Long-legs

Pholcus phalangioides

Description:

This specimen has an abdomen of about 3mm. Very long legs and a long slender body

Habitat:

This specimen hangs from a painting behind the computer in a dark corner of my living room. Cosmopolitan introduced species

Notes:

I was about to photograph the tiny Lampona (White-tailed Spider) when it blundered into the range of a tiny Daddy Long-legs. It took less than a minute for the Lampona to become a neat bundle of silk. This species of Daddy Long-legs are hunters of most spiders and can handle specimens many times their weight. This series is about the best my camera can do in this light
