Caiman crocodilus
Hi guys, thank you for your help! The pics are actually a little bit bigger but unfortunately while loading it becomes cuted on the borders.
Crocodylus acutus, the American "crocodile", does not occur in Brazil, nor does the American "Alligator", Alligator mississippiensis. This is a caiman. Based on range it is either Melanosuchus niger or Caiman crocodilus. Owing to the intra-orbital bridge of bone running between the eyes which gives it its common name. I'd guess it's a spectacled caiman. I wish there was more showing in the photo.
Might it also be a black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) as they live in the Amazon?
