Orange-winged male dragonflies with brown stripes on the wings. Yellow and black body with amber eyes.
East of the Rockies from Canada to the southern states. Found in the north from mid-June through August and in the southern states, year-round. It lives in wet habitat types such as ponds, marshes and lakes, where it perches on vegetation.
Spotted at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge on the double dikes along lighthouse road.
