Dianthus sylvestris

Description:

Sometimes found under the Latin name of "Dianthus caryophyllus subsp. sylvestris". This species, belonging to family Caryophyllaceae, remains short, some 30 cm tall, and grows almost horizontally, creeping over the rocks. The diameter of the flower is about 2.5 cm, and is of pale pink color.

Habitat:

D. sylvestris grows in mountains, on rocky spots - its french name translates as "dianthus of rocks".
