Apple Looper moth - male

Phrissogonus laticostata

Description:

A small moth with a wing span of about 15mm. Wings showed brown and cream mottling. The costal base was uplifted forming a cream-coloured crescent about the head.

Habitat:

garden

Notes:

This is not a very good photograph and is for recording purposes only. I hope to see it again and will try to get better shots. Female moths do not have the projections from the costa. The caterpillars are said to feed on flower buds of several plant species including Asteraceae and Mimosae
