Picoides pubescens
The smallest of the North American Woodpeckers. Black and white, males have a small red patch on the back of the head. Nearly identical to the Hairy Woodpecker with slight differences in size and length of bill.
Housing area with plentiful wooded areas.
Fortunately, she showed me enough of her face for ID purposes. I was able to see her beak and the little fluffy bit where the beak and face meet.
