Antrodiella sp.
approx. 3x1 1/2 inches
spotte among roots of dead tree on semi-wooded property
Thank you, Leuba, for the help. The genus appears to be correct, and Antrodiella zonanta does look very similar. But I have not found any concrete record of it in Florida. For now I'm going to go with the genus name and maybe find the species in the future.
Hi Nancy, we have a genus of these flat toothed fungus here in Australia - Antrodiella sp. Have a look for these or similar in Florida. The Antrodiella zonanta looks very much like your spotting with irregular tubular or flattened pores. I will keep looking for you..good luck !
Thank you, chesterbperry. I am still hoping for an ID. ( I checked the tree where I found it the other day and all that remains is a small bit of crusty residue.)
Thanks for the input, Leuba. I've looked at the genus, but still have nothing definitive.
Looks so healthy and fresh. We have a similiar specimen here in Oz - Androdiella zonata. You could try the Genus ..... I do hope you find the ID. Really lovely !!
@Gljivarsko drustvo Nis: thank you for the suggestion. While Creolophus cirrhatus looks similar, I can not find an example in the United States.
I've added a new photo of this fungus from Jan. 6, 2013.. It has grown and become a golden color.
