The American three-toed woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker. This woodpecker has a length of 21 cm, a wingspan of 38 cm, and an average weight of 55 g; its maximum lifespan in the wild is 6 years.

I had heard about a pair in this area from other birders and was fortunate enough to see the male after a total of 3 hours looking for it.
