The Velvet-purple Coronet is an endemic hummingbird to the Chocó cloud forest of NW Ecuador and Colombia. This specimen was photographed at the feeding station of Reserva Las Gralarias, Mindo, Ecuador.

Yes, these are amazing birds! I've never seen so many colors on single animal. You can tell the coronets from other cloud forest hummingbirds in that they hold their wings back when they land on a branch. You can see this in the fourth picture in the series. Reminds me of an avian gymnast "sticking its landing". LOL
