Description:

Distinctive pattern on the underside of the wings.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Native habitat is mixed coniferous and oak woodland with some alder, cottonwood, aspen, and chokecherry.

Notes:

This is probably a male, as males perch in exposed situations like this, on the lookout for both females and competing males.
