Flax Lilly

Dianella sp.

Habitat:

Sand Dunes behind surf beaches, hot sun, salt-laden wind,

Notes:

This spotting could be Dianella brevicaulis (Coast Flax Lily) D. congesta (Beach Flax Lily). I first thought it was D. revoluta (Black Anther Flax Lily) but these do not seem to have the darkened anthers and the map of the species shows it as mainly in the south of the country. The last shot is of the same plants a year later but is given to show the habitat

Thanks Kosala, late in the afternoon there is a quality of light that makes these berries seem to glow against the foliage
