Looks more like a huge bush. Blooms of yellow. One of which I have not seen blooms in blue.

Habitat:

Grows in the desert in washes.

MaryRosales, I don't think this is a palo verde. There are a number of other shrubs it could be for sure. Also, many of your spottings could go in the Southern California Wildlife missions at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7964...
