I had no idea lol, so I looked here: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/North...

I go to school in the TX panhandle, and they are year round there, but I only got in to birds in about October so I haven't noticed them before. But this year I will be looking all over for everything all year long!!

They are here in the winter. They migrate out just like the rest of the US :-). We have such a strong population of them though, any given day on the coast you can tally 10-20 Northern Harriers. But every single one HATES me! :-)

Ashley, that is very cool! Glad you got to see one of your lifers! Do they live in TX year round?

Well since he was moving, I was driving while taking these pictures...so I wasn't expecting them to be that great haha. But he was a lifer for me so I had to get proof ;)

Ha Cody! I feel the same way! I have been lucky enough to see a handful in the wild and it is always too late in the day, too overcast or bad lighting. All my pictures come out blurry! Argh! Harrier's are winter residents here in CO, so I guess I have a few more months to get some! Good luck Cody and great shots Ashley! These guys are tough!

Devil birds. Anytime I try and get a shot of one on a perch - doesn't happen!!! I rarely see these guys sitting still, it's like they have ADHD!
