Capybara

Hydrochoerus hydrochoeris

Description:

Lives in herds and have nocturnal habits. In the morning resting in the shade, likes to swim in the afternoon and evening to feed on leaves. The group always walks on fixed tracks, walking in single file, one with his head on the other hip. Parada, adopts a posture unusual among mammals: sits likes dogs.

Habitat:

Wet and dry forests, grasslands near water, wetland

Notes:

The Brazil currently has about 100 commercial breeders registered with IBAMA, based on the decree 132/88. These breeding sites, about 44% refers to the creation of Capybaras and are concentrated in the state of São Paulo.
