Kongobatha diademata
Two rows of spines on the fore arms (indicates order Mantodea) 3cm in length, striped eyeand transparent wings. Pale yellow border on wings
unknown, it was on my apartment eaves
I couldn't leave this beauty alone! I just wish there was more info on the species other than it being Australian.
You remembered! It is great to get this one identified. Many thanks Forest Dragon
Stephen, I found it! It's a Snake Mantid, Kongobatha diademata.
I can't seem to find much info on them but apparently people like to keep them as pets.

Forest Dragon. There didn't seem to be much online to assist with this one. Thanks anyway
Thanks Forest Dragon. It looks very much like the species you suggest. Thanks for the lead. Thanks Alice
Hi Stephen, this is an adult Mantid. It looks most like Tropidomantis tenera:

However, as far as I can tell, this species doesn't occur in Australia. Perhaps there is a similar species or maybe there have been escaped/established populations. I am not sure at this time but maybe this info will help. I think a bit more research is in order.
