Beautiful Wood Nymph

Eudryas grata

Description:

White wing has speckled reddish brown along outer costa and margin. Reniform spot is a greenish hue. Dark ridge of hair on thorax.

Habitat:

Spotted on a sheet hanging on my porch with black lights and halogens shining on it at night to attract moths. We live in a gated lake community surrounded by rural agricultural land, and some wooded areas. National Moth Week 2017.

Notes:

Closely resembles the Pearly Wood nymph, Eudryas unio
