Tajuria cippus
Wingspan of Adult Butterfly : 29~33mm Caterpillar Host Plant : Dendropthoe pentandra (Loranthaceae) The upper side of the male is a beautiful royal blue with a broad black apical border on the forewing. The female is a light pale blue with a series of black post-discal striae. The underside is a silvery grey with post discal series of dark striae on both wings. The tornal spots are orange-crowned and both sexes possess two pairs of tails. (http://butterflycircle.blogspot.in/2008/...)
It came on my mother's tomb which was covered with a floral carpet on the 41st day of her demise. It sat on the strewn marigold petals for almost two minutes and left. I have never seen it again. Subsequent note: The underside should have been more whitish, but because it was against light and there was the reflection of yellow of the petals on it, this colour change resulted. The last frame added later is the correct colour.
Thank you bayucca. I have accepted your ID suggestion and edited my spotting. .
Dear DespinaTsafetopoulou, the underside of the wings of Dakhan Silverstreak Blue (male) does not match. So I have accepted the suggestion of bayucca and is editing my spotting according to his suggestion.
beautiful butterfly! I am sorry for your loss -I hope you get to see many beautiful things this year.
I feel sorry for the loss of your mother. I am sure you always will remember her, if you see another Royal Peacock. And I am sure you will see it again one time... Take care and a peaceful New Year to you and your family.
