White-crowned Sparrow

Zonotrichia leucophrys gambelii

Description:

This sparrow has a striking head with its white crown and two bold black stripes from bill to back of head and two thin stripes on sides of head from bill across the eye to back of head. Small yellow bill, grey body and brown wings. These usually fly in small flocks bouncing from bush to bush looking for seeds or small insects. Also can be found foraging on the ground.

Habitat:

Can be found mostly just about everywhere from forests to cities.

spotted this one while trying to get a picture of a Yellowthroat that got away from me.
